Trash Contract Awarded To Sharp Disposal LLC

9/2/2022

Once again, there are citizens circulating misinformation- this time regarding the trash contract with Sharp Disposal. The image that is being circulated was part of the bid proposal and not the final contract with Sharp Disposal LLC who was awarded the trash contract for the City of Portageville.
The donation portion of their proposal had no bearing on the decision of the City Council to award the trash contract to Sharp Disposal LLC. The $0.25 per residential account that was referenced would be donated from Sharp Disposal's income if they so choose and is not part of the final contract with the City. Trash rates for the City of Portageville will remain the same and not increase at this time.
Sharp Disposal LLC is committed to making this transition as smooth on the citizens of Portageville as possible. They will take over trash services beginning Tuesday, September 6, 2022. The pickup route will remain the same at this time, and if it is adjusted in the future, plenty of advance notice will be given. Members of our current solid waste crew will be working with Sharp Disposal LLC in the beginning to help familiarize the new company with our routes and our citizens.
Sharp Disposal LLC will continue to provide special services to our elderly citizens who are not able to set out their trash containers at no additional fees. If you feel you are in need of this service, or have a neighbor or family member who will need assistance with their trash containers, please call City Hall at 573-379-5789 to be added to our assistance list.
If you have any questions or would like to obtain a copy of the official contract between Sharp Disposal LLC and the City of Portageville, please give us a call at 573-379-5789.
