Republic Services Awarded Trash Collection in Portageville

Public Notice: On February 10, 2025, the Board of Aldermen of the City of Portageville voted to terminate the Memorandum of Understanding dated September 6, 2022, between Sharp Disposal, LLC and the City of Portageville. The termination of the agreement is for cause based on Sharp Disposal LLC’s failure to fulfil its obligations set forth in the Memorandum of Understanding. The effective date of the termination is April 1, 2025.
On February 24, 2025, the Board of Aldermen awarded solid waste collection within the City of Portageville to Republic Services. Beginning the week of April 1, 2025, all trash will be picked up on Thursdays. In the coming weeks, Republic Services will be delivering trash containers/ dumpsters to all customers. Below is a flyer that will be placed in the lid of your new trash container upon arrival.
Please note that the customer service number will not be available until after April 1, 2025; however, if your trash is missed or if you are a senior citizen or disabled citizen who believes you may qualify to be placed on the door-to-door service list, you will still need to contact City Hall at 573-379-5789. Also, app availability for Portageville customers will not be accessible until April 30, 2025.
